Onchiyam is a panchayat located in the north-west of Kozhikode district between latitudes 8° 11' and longitudes 75° 13' and 25° 36', covering an area of 900 hectares. The boundaries of the panchayat are Azhiyur panchayat in the north, Chorode panchayat in the south, Eramala panchayat in the east and the Arabian Sea in the west. There are many hills ranging from 20 to 40 meters high in 17 wards in the panchayat. The panchayat can be divided into eight zones according to its topography. Vallathu Kunnu, Edakandi Kunnu and College Kunnu are the highest areas in the panchayat, and the 2.5 km long coastal area covers an area of 163 hectares. Of this, 39 hectares is marshland. The largest area in the panchayat is Chemman, which covers an area of 417 hectares.
